Stc Bahrain received the Economic Excellence Award during the annual Al Bilad Awards. This honor recognizes the company’s contributions to digital transformation, the expansion of digital infrastructure, and the development of the ICT workforce.

Mr. Ahmed Al Jowder, Chief Finance Officer at stc Bahrain, stated: "Winning the Economic Excellence Award at the Al Bilad Awards is a testament to stc Bahrain’s commitment to building a tech-driven economy for the Kingdom. Our role extends beyond providing connectivity; we are actively investing in the foundation of Bahrain's digital future. By pairing world-class, green digital infrastructure with investments in local talent and entrepreneurs, we are ensuring that Bahrain remains a highly competitive regional hub for technology and innovation, fully aligned with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030."

Advancing National Digital Infrastructure

Stc Bahrain is currently developing a Data Centre Park that utilizes green energy architecture. This facility aims to support the technical requirements of the Kingdom through sustainable energy consumption patterns.

Infrastructure expansion efforts also include the 2Africa Pearls submarine cable system. This project connects Bahrain to data landing stations located across the GCC, Africa, Europe, and Asia. The cable system functions as a primary link to enhance international connectivity for the region. These initiatives form part of the broader efforts by stc Bahrain to build technical foundations within the country.

Investing in Local Talent

The jeel ICT programme provides a development pathway for Bahraini graduates seeking to establish careers in the technology sector. This initiative enables participants to gain professional experience through structured training and skill-building opportunities within the industry. By focusing on the needs of local graduates, the programme prepares individuals to contribute to the technical workforce of the Kingdom.

Supporting the growth of new businesses, the inspireU programme provides support for local entrepreneurs. This scheme assists startup founders by offering resources, guidance, and access to platforms that help refine their business models. Through these efforts, stc Bahrain aims to encourage domestic innovation and assist small enterprises in scaling their operations. Both programmes operate as part of the strategy to improve the capabilities of local talent and strengthen the entrepreneurial environment in Bahrain.
