Bahrain marked the first anniversary of the third Asian Youth Games today, following the event's conclusion in the kingdom last year. The multi-sport competition took place from 22 October to 31 October 2025. These Games were held under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Officials organized the athletic tournament across various venues in the country to showcase regional talent. The event brought together participants for ten days of competition throughout October.

Scope of the Sporting Event

More than 4,300 athletes from 45 Asian National Olympic Committees participated in the Games. These competitors arrived from across the continent to engage in the event held last year. The official programme for the third Asian Youth Games was full, spanning a duration of ten days. The athletes involved represented the diverse sporting landscape of the Asian continent, converging on the kingdom to represent their respective National Olympic Committees.

The Games featured a 26-sport programme conducted across multiple venues. Organizers utilized Exhibition World Bahrain, Isa Sports City, Khalifa Sports City, and Bahrain National Stadium to host the various disciplines. These locations accommodated the full schedule of activities during the ten-day competition. All venues functioned as integrated sites for the athletic tournament to support the requirements of the participants. The distribution of sports across these specific facilities allowed for the management of the large field of athletes from the participating National Olympic Committees. Each venue was prepared to host the specific technical requirements of the 26 sports featured in the programme. The use of these four primary sites ensured that the infrastructure could handle the logistical demands of an international multi-sport event of this scale.

Relocation and Hosting History

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, originally held the rights to host the third Asian Youth Games. Officials relocated the multi-sport event to Bahrain in December 2024, shifting the venue to the kingdom for the competition. This decision necessitated a rapid transition in planning to ensure the facilities were ready for the scheduled dates in October 2025.

Bahraini athletes concluded their performance at the Games with a total of 13 medals. The national haul consisted of five gold, five silver, and three bronze medals. This performance noted the efforts of the local competitors throughout the ten-day athletic tournament.

China finished at the top of the overall medal standings by the conclusion of the event. Uzbekistan secured the second position in the final rankings, while Kazakhstan followed in third place. The medal table reflected the competitive nature of the 26-sport programme, which saw athletes from across the 45 participating National Olympic Committees vying for top honors. The anniversary serves as a reminder of the logistical effort required to host such a significant number of athletes and the resulting athletic achievements recorded during the competition period in October.
