The High Criminal Court sentenced two Bahraini men to three years in prison for kidnapping a 34-year-old Bangladeshi national living in Bahrain on a flexi-visa. The incident followed a dispute over an alcohol transaction in the Hoora area. A 32-year-old general manager involved in the case stated: "I put the victim in the car, and told him that the product was messed up, and that he tricked us. I told him I’d take him to the authorities if he didn’t return our payment. As we got closer to the police station, he agreed, gave us BD74 and we let him go. We asked him for genuine products for BD100."
Details of the Kidnapping
The abduction took place at 2:30am in the Hoora area. Records indicate the perpetrators utilized a white Hyundai to intercept and transport the 34-year-old victim during the early morning hours.
Investigators identified the vehicle as being registered to the mother of the 46-year-old defendant. This automobile served as the primary means of transport while the two men held the victim against his will following the disagreement regarding the alcohol transaction. Authorities confirmed the identity of the car owner through official vehicle registration databases linked to the older defendant. Legal proceedings established that the vehicle remained in the possession of the 46-year-old man at the time of the offense.
Dispute Over Adulterated Alcohol
The 32-year-old defendant and the 46-year-old defendant maintained that their actions stemmed from a financial grievance involving the victim. According to the legal testimony provided by the pair, the 34-year-old victim sold them adulterated alcohol for the price of BD100. The defendants asserted that this transaction prompted the confrontation that subsequently led to the kidnapping charges in the Hoora area. Legal records confirm the ages of the two men as 32 and 46 respectively. The court reviewed these claims during the proceedings to establish the motive behind the abduction of the Bangladeshi national. Official findings focused on the impact of this alleged sale on the events that transpired during the early morning hours.
Financial Extortion and Release
The 34-year-old victim provided testimony regarding the events during the early morning hours. He stated, "It was 2.30am and I was in Hoora. The defendants came to me in a white vehicle, then one of them stepped out and dragged me inside the car. They said they would hand me over to the police. They took my phone and asked for money. One of the defendants put his hand in my pants pocket, pulled out my wallet and took BD500 from it. They then gave me my phone back and returned me to Hoora."
Court records established that the defendants seized the BD500 directly from the victim's wallet during the abduction. Before the two men released the victim, the 34-year-old man returned BD74 to them. This payment followed the defendants' demands for restitution regarding the alcohol transaction. Legal proceedings confirmed the victim regained his freedom in the Hoora area after this exchange occurred.
